Owners of HTC's latest flagship on Verizon have been patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) waiting on the promised update to Android 4.4.3 for some time now, but it looks like they'll be waiting a little longer. Even though the T-Mobile One M8 got its update today, HTC's US president Jason Mackenzie has confirmed on Twitter the OTA is currently targeted for mid-September on Verizon.

If you've been eagerly awaiting the Android 4.4.3 update for your T-Mobile One M8, wait no more: it has arrived. The update brings a slightly newer version of Android, security fixes, wireless optimizations, and updates to several stock HTC applications. If you're not able to pull the update over the air, XDA user sapplegater has uploaded the OTA to Mega.

As always, if your device is rooted this particular update might be one to skip - the ever-present "security fixes" packed in this OTA often plug up exploits that allow root access, and Android roots are becoming increasingly hard to discover as Google and OEMs refine their software.

When HTC first released the One M8 in India, it decided to disable the phone's 4G LTE radio. So despite having a Snapdragon 801 SoC and all the necessary hardware in place, Indian users couldn't connect their phones to LTE networks and enjoy higher internet speeds. The company has been promising to release an OTA update to fix the issue on August 15th, and they've fulfilled their commitment.

Just as promised, HTC is starting to update the One M8 Developer Edition to Android 4.4.3. The over-the-air update was first spotted by a member over at the XDA-Developers forum, who incidentally was rocking a developer edition of the device. According to forum posters, the update file is for both the developer edition (M8_UL_CA) and SIM unlocked (M8_UL) phones, though none of the latter seem to be getting the OTA at the moment.

Dedicated Android fans will probably be a little disappointed that the latest update to HTC's One M8 flagship on Sprint doesn't include the bleeding edge 4.4.4. But it's pretty close, 4.4.3, and Sprint has thrown in a couple of notable expansions specifically for its network. In addition to the small back-end improvements in 4.4.3, the 2.16.651.4 release adds the Wi-Fi Calling feature that Sprint has been slowly rolling out for the last few months.

Owners of the LTE variant of the Nexus 7 2013 have kind of been left out in the cold when it comes to the latest Android updates. While most of the other current Nexus devices (including the WiFi version of the same tablet) are running Android 4.4.4, a lot of N7 LTE users are still back on 4.4.2. Those who know their way around a bootloader can install the factory image for 4.4.3, but until now there was no standard over-the-air update.

The 2013 Nexus 7 LTE, now known as the bastard child of the living Nexus family, has not received any updates in the recent round of Android 4.4.3, and subsequently 4.4.4, releases. All of a sudden just now, the 4.4.3 factory image finally showed up, and we can only speculate how long it'll be before we see 4.4.4. For those who are counting, that's 22 days since the Nexus 4, 5, Wi-Fi 7, and 10 have all had their respective factory images available.

An unexpected treat came zooming out of Google HQ today as Android 4.4.4 OTAs and factory images have started rolling out for Nexus devices. The changes have already been posted to AOSP and Al Sutton quickly followed up with a list of the changes that make up the latest update. Since 4.4.3 is only 2 weeks old, and I/O is merely a week away, we had a feeling this was just a security update, and it looks like that's all it is.

Android 4.4.4 is a thing now, but Sprint Moto X users will have to make do with 4.4.3, which is heading out starting today (build KXA21.12-L1.22). This is one of those times you're going to have to wait your turn, as the OTA is going out in waves.

While the majority of Nexus and GPE devices have received their Android 4.4.3 OTAs relatively quickly, the rollout for certain other devices has certainly been... unusual. We still haven't heard anything about the 2013 Nexus 7 LTE, the LG G Pad 8.3 GPE, or the Moto G GPE, and until today, the OTA for the 2012 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi (I've been waiting for it to post both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+3G links together).
